How to Stop Worrying About Money
Money worry has an energy all its own.
You can feel it in your body. Your stomach tightens when you look at your bank balance. Your mind starts calculating what is due and when. You wake up thinking about money, carry the worry throughout the day, and perhaps fall asleep running numbers through your head.
And the more attention you give the worry, the bigger it seems to become.
For conscious creators, this presents an interesting challenge. You understand that your inner world matters. You know that where you place your attention affects how you experience life. Yet telling yourself to “think abundantly” when you're genuinely concerned about money can feel impossible—and forcing yourself into positivity usually doesn't create true alignment anyway.
So don't begin by trying to feel abundant.
Begin by shifting the energy.
1. Release the Emotional Charge Before Trying to Change Your Thoughts
When you're activated around money, your first instinct may be to reach for affirmations. But if your body is saying, We're in trouble, while your mind is repeating, I am financially abundant, you may feel even more disconnected.
This is where EFT Tapping can be especially helpful.
Instead of trying to talk yourself out of the fear, acknowledge what's actually present while tapping through the points:
Even though I'm really worried about money right now, I acknowledge how stressful this feels.
All this fear about not having enough.
I'm tired of carrying this money worry.
My mind keeps trying to figure everything out.
Maybe I don't have to solve everything in this moment.
I'm willing to let some of this fear soften.
You aren't tapping to convince yourself that a pile of money is about to appear. You're creating enough internal space to move out of the emotional loop.
Once the intensity comes down, you can access possibilities that fear may have been drowning out.
2. Notice Where Your Attention Is Going
Energy follows attention.
When you're worried about money, you can become extraordinarily aware of evidence of lack. You notice every expense, every slow sales day, every unexpected bill, every price increase, and every dollar leaving your account.
Meanwhile, evidence of support can become almost invisible.
This doesn't mean ignoring your bills. It means noticing whether you're giving financial problems ten hours of energetic attention for something that requires twenty minutes of practical attention.
Handle what needs handling. Then deliberately move your focus.
Look around your life and notice what is supporting you. Food in the kitchen. A place to live. Someone recommending your work. An idea that arrived unexpectedly. Something you needed appearing at the right time. A bill that was less than expected. A resource you already own.
You're retraining your awareness to recognize that lack isn't the only thing happening.
3. Tap on the Belief Beneath the Worry
Sometimes the current financial situation isn't creating all of the fear. It's activating an older belief.
Money is hard to make.
I never have enough.
Something always happens when I start getting ahead.
I have to work hard for every dollar.
I'm on my own.
Money comes in and immediately goes out.
These beliefs can become so familiar that they feel like facts.
Choose the statement that carries the strongest emotional charge and tap specifically on that belief.
You might begin with:
Even though part of me believes money will always be a struggle, this belief has been with me for a long time, and I'm open to questioning whether it still belongs in my life.
Then allow the tapping to unfold from there.
The goal isn't to replace it immediately with something your system doesn't believe. You're loosening the old energetic pattern so another possibility has room to emerge.
4. Stop Rehearsing Financial Disaster
Worry is often imagination pointed toward an unwanted future.
You look at today's circumstances and mentally continue them forward. If money is tight now, you imagine it being tighter next month. Then you imagine what happens after that.
Before long, you've emotionally experienced an entire future that hasn't happened.
When you catch yourself doing this, interrupt the rehearsal.
Come back to the present and remind yourself:
This is what I know right now. I do not know what will happen next.
That distinction matters. You don't know what idea may come tomorrow, what opportunity may appear next week, who may contact you, what connection may be made, or what completely unexpected path may open. `````````````````````Leave the future unwritten.
5. Ask a Different Question
Fear tends to ask questions such as:
What if I don't have enough? What if nothing changes? What if this doesn't work?
Your mind then dutifully searches for answers—and usually finds frightening ones. Try giving it a different assignment.
What else is possible here? Where might money come from that I haven't considered? What wants to be created through me? What resource am I overlooking? What action feels alive to me right now? What would I do if I trusted that there is a way forward?
Then don't force an answer. Ask the question and become receptive. The answer might arrive while you're walking, showering, driving, meditating, tapping, or doing something completely unrelated.
Sometimes creating space for an answer is more powerful than mentally chasing one.
6. Practice the Energy of Receiving
We often respond to financial worry by moving into doing energy.
What can I sell? What can I create? Who can I contact? How can I make money?
Action can absolutely be part of the solution. But abundance also involves receiving.
Notice how you respond when someone offers you something. Can you accept a compliment without deflecting it? Can someone buy you lunch without you immediately needing to reciprocate? Can you accept help? Can you receive a gift without feeling guilty?
These may seem unrelated to money, but they're all expressions of receptivity.
You can even sit quietly for a few minutes with your palms open and simply practice the feeling of receiving. Breathe and think:
I am open to receiving.
I allow support.
I don't have to know where it will come from.
There are more possibilities available than I can currently see.
Let your body experience those words rather than merely repeating them.
7. Connect With the Version of You Who Feels Financially Supported
Instead of trying to manifest money from the energy of I desperately need money, connect with the version of yourself who already feels supported.
Close your eyes and imagine that version of you.
How does she breathe?
How does she make decisions?
How does she feel when she pays a bill?
Does she constantly check her bank account?
Does she panic when an unexpected expense appears?
What does she believe about her ability to create money?
You don't have to pretend you already have her financial circumstances. You're exploring her energy.
Then ask yourself: What is one choice I could make today from that version of me?
Perhaps she sends an email you've been hesitating to send. Raises a price. Creates something new. Stops chasing something that feels wrong. Takes an afternoon off because exhaustion isn't creating anything useful.
This is where energetic alignment begins becoming embodied action.
8. Appreciate Money When It Moves in Both Directions
It's easy to appreciate money when it arrives and resent it when it leaves. But money is meant to circulate.
When you pay your electric bill, you received electricity. When you buy groceries, money becomes nourishment. When you pay your rent or mortgage, it supports the place you call home.
Experiment with changing the energy of paying. Instead of thinking, There goes another $150, try acknowledging the exchange: I'm grateful I have the money to pay this.
You don't have to love every bill. But changing your relationship with money leaving can reduce the feeling that every expenditure represents loss.
9. Follow the Energy—and Take the Action
Energetic alignment isn't a substitute for action. Often, shifting your energy allows you to recognize the action that was difficult to see while you were consumed by fear.
You might suddenly feel inspired to create something. Contact someone. Apply for something. Sell something you've been holding onto. Change an offer. Explore a different income stream. Learn a skill. Follow up with someone.
Pay attention to what has energy around it. Not frantic energy. Not I have to make this work or I'm doomed.
Alive energy. Curiosity. Excitement. A little internal nudge that says, Go look over there. Follow it.
You Don't Have to Get All the Way to Abundance
When you're worried about money, abundance can feel very far away. So don't make abundance the immediate goal. Reach for relief.
Move from There's no way this is going to work to I don't know how this is going to work. Then perhaps to There might be a way I haven't seen. And eventually to I'm open to seeing what's possible.
That's a genuine energetic shift.
You don't have to force yourself from fear to certainty in one giant leap. You simply need to stop feeding the old energy long enough for something new to become available.
Tap. Breathe. Bring yourself back into your body. Question the old money story. Notice what is already supporting you. Open to receiving. Listen for the next aligned action.
And most importantly, remember that the financial circumstances you can see today are only what has manifested so far.
They don't tell you what becomes possible next.
